This was supposed to be another drawing of Tangerine but I drew her too big originally so I just changed it into this pig pinup, which is kinda weird haha. For some reason I have been having this weird desire to draw large women, it's fun.

Been drawing some from our bird feeder outside, we must have finally got the right bird food mix because there is always 6-8 bird's there at a time now lol. My favorite is this rather plump bright neon red cardinal. I also love the cow's head birds that come around but I haven't drawn any of them yet. I colored the one cardinal in REALLY REALLY lazily on Photoshop lol.

Well as you may or may not know, wolves have been my favorite animal since I was probably knee high to a grasshopper, but I have never been able to draw them. So I thought I would finally start practicing again. Though the second one on the top is a husky not a wolf. I looked up a lot of reference and just started doodling and breaking them down into just simple shapes which resulted in a more cartoonish effect, I need to start adding in more details to the fur to bump it up. Not that I have anything against cartoons, I love them. I am just trying to make it more my style.

My fiance who writes the amazingly hilarious peterandcompany.com has been looking for guest artists to send in work while he is recovering from being ill and our friends have sent in really amazing and beautiful artwork so I thought I would finally throw mine in, I had done quite a few pieces and sketches but this has been the only one that I really liked, and even this I am not satisfied with the background, though backgrounds have never been my thing lol.

This is Jules crazy undergarments, no lumps or bumps with these panties lol. Her bra is quite interesting, it's kind of like the Mary Poppins' magic bad in that she keeps everything there.

Finals are kicking my tail! Because of work I have been getting behind in my SEQA class so I am going to be spending many sleepless nights trying to catch up.

This was one of the assignments, we had to write a children's story and illustrate it. This is horrible as far as the technique goes but I thought the story was cute. Jon helped me brainstorm the idea, I think I want to actually redo this over winter break. Basically the inspiration for this was I wanted to do a story that I could draw really fast, so I wanted to do an animal that would be simple and not have fur, so we came up with pigs.

As far as anatomy goes this isn't the best thing that I have ever done, but despite that I actually really like this piece. I think she has a very serene and motherly expression which is what I was trying to go for. I have some ideas of what I might do with this piece but I am not sure yet.

So this drawing is a bit more fantasy, I mean it's kinda cliche in the fact that it's an older woman looking longly at what she was in her youth.

This one is obviously going to need a background which is worrying me a lot bit, it's going to take some time because I am horrible at designing and drawing backgrounds, hopefully with a lot of practice I will get better :-x

I actually spent quite a bit of time doing flat colors of this on PS but wouldn't you know I would forget to save and flipping PS would shut down on my like it always does..

They had a marathon on of " I love Lucy " and it was always my grandmother's and mine favorite show. I have always loved the dresses she wore, maybe it sounds vain but I kinda always thought I might look pretty in those outfits lol. Maybe it's just the girl in me talking!

I think this is one of the only drawings that I have done recently that I kinda like, they are simple and just clothes but I might just add them to DA.

Well, I have been working on this project forever now. We had to do 37sketches and 4 final images and it is just taking me so damn long. The professor doesn't want any of it on sketchpad paper so I have been having to waste all my stonehenge and watercolor paper :-(. He also wants it to be done in mixed media and try new things. So this is one of the sketches that I worked on today, I really liked the texture that I got by using an old mascara brush.

This is a picture of my illustration project in progress, I really want to take pictures of it as I complete it just so I can see how it goes. The images aren't the best quality and it's really hard to make out a lot of the detail but it would be far too much work to scan it in pieces and than put it together and upload it.

This is my final comp for my illustration class. The teacher really likes this one so I decided to go with it. The final project is on colored canson paper, we have to use black and white pastel and another color of our choosing. I ended up choosing red for my paper and orange for my color. I will be posting images as I finish it.

Due date is Monday so wish me luck!

Practice with watercolor

I just wanted to practice around with different watercolor techniques, this one is definitely different from my usual style. I don't really like it as much, I feel like it's really sloppy. I added this one to DA jut because it had been so long since I updated, but I think I might take it down or move into scraps just because of how juvenile the painting looks.

WIP Art Trade

This is an art trade, I am doing with my friend Tito. It is of her characters: Mabel, Turner and Crumpet. The basic idea is that Mabel is trying to read her book when she is distracted by Crumpet's tantrum, and Turner immediately tries to quiet her down since he knows how annoyed Mabel will get lol. The End.

I still need to find a better placement for the characters and sketch in a background(which I loathe). I have never been able to quite grasp backgrounds!

These are the mermaid concepts, the text for it goes along the lines of " I was lonely child when I met the mermaid, and no one believed me". My professor said we could be creative with it, so I figured since it said he was " lonely " the mermaid probably was a figment of his imagination and it wasn't some fantasy book. So I thought it would be cute if maybe the mermaid was actually just his pet fish.

Breaks and Hair balls

Winter break was wonderful, I spent a lot of time with my family and just hanging out at the apartment with my boyfriend.

Classes have officially started up, and I have survived my first week of classes. I want to start getting better with posting on my blog, because I do have fun with it when I actually get around to posting things. So here is some stuff from my illu class. We are doing a BW ink drawing from a selected text he gave us. I already did the thumb nails and I am working on the character sketches now. I am split though, I like two of the stories, the one about the hairy men and the one about the mermaid. I will probably ask my teacher tomorrow which one he prefers based on my sketches.

Christmas present for Grandpa

This is a portrait of my beautiful grandmother as gift to my grandpa. I am really pleased with how this came out overall. It was really fun to do this with all my grandma's pretty freckles (even though they are a pain to paint) . However, I did make a lot of rookie mistakes with this.

I had been doing a lot of ink washes so I was really digging them and decided to do a brown ink wash for the background of this portrait, however I did the background before even thinking about my colors. Giving a fair skinned red head a dark over bearing brown background was not a good idea and because I did it ink I could not go back and take it up. My boyfriend suggested adding green on top of it to balance it out, in THEORY this sounded like a good idea, but once again I didn't think of my colors.
Brown splotches + green splotches = CAMO

So, after that I went back with white ink and rewashed all over it trying to eliminate the darkness and the green. Success! After all was said and done the background actually looked nice.

I think my grandpa will really love this :-)

EDIT : I just wanted to add that the colors came out very muggy in the scan, but in real life the colors are much more clean and vibrant.

I just really like this one for some reason, I think it's because I usually fail at making cute animals. I already posted this one on DA but I plan to do more of them. I am making this for my boyfriend's mother as a Christmas gift. She has a cross eyed Siamese cat whom she loves so I thought it would be a nice gift in addition to the sugar cookies I am baking <3

I love Christmas and the delicious food lol.

Christmas Portraits

This is the final product of my Christmas present for my brother and his lady. Originally, I painted this in color but ended up not liking it and stuck with the ink wash idea. Overall I am really pleased of how it turned out, it looks exactly like them. However, the scanned just completely killed the coloring which is upsetting because in person their is much contrast in the shadows and it looks nice but on the computer it's just flat. I still have a few more portraits I need to get done before I go home.

I am also thinking of posting this on my DA account so I can try to get some commissions for portraits but I doubt I will get any because I don't have too many watchers on DA. I am not a vain artist, and I know I am not the best, I still have a lot of learning to do but it really ticks me off that there are SOOOOO many artists on DA who get hundreds of commissions and don't know the first thing about anatomy and don't care to, while the people who try their hardest don't get anything. Maybe if start drawing everything with size triple F breasts, I will get it a break.

Amy's Christmas Present

This is one of the portraits I am doing which is my brother's finace Amy. Originally, I was going to watercolor them but I have decided to do them in an ink wash instead. I always do watercolor so I felt like now was a good time to experiment with something new.

Just some sketches based on the book "The Bell Jar". I wanted to do some drawings of the character based on how I felt she would look as she began her decent into her mental illness. The character of the book was meant to be auto-buographical of the author, but I didn't want to do that so instead I did them based on what I felt she would have looked like as a character.

These are just very rough sketch, there is a lot more that needs to be done to them.
